Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for assuring that all processing and packaging equipment is cleaned and sanitized prior to the following production day. Ensure that all work activities of direct and indirect reports are performed with attention to the highest quality of food safety, safe processes, and compliance with all Company, Customer, and Legal Requirements.

  • Manages, evaluates, motivates, and directs sanitation initiatives for Plant Sanitation supervision and crew
  • Ensure compliance with Corporate standards and systems to monitor food safety and facility cleanliness
  • Inspects, monitors, and educates departments regarding food safety and cleanliness in the handling, production, and transportation of ingredients and finished products
  • Promotes safety through work procedures, orderly work environments, and, employee safety programs
  • Ensures compliance with Pest Control contractors
  • Trains employees in food safety and sanitation
  • Manage schedules and ensure that all Sanitation shifts have ample coverage to accomplish tasks
  • Lead by Example – will require the majority of time spent within the Plant ensuring that processes and procedures are Accomplished daily


Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Strong continuous improvement mindset
  • Supervisory skills: demonstrate leadership by influencing others in implementing sanitation programs through effective communication, individual technical knowledge, and training
  • General knowledge of equipment used in food manufacturing facilities and depots for production, storage, and transfer of products, and cleaning practices for that equipment
  • Strong planning and organizational skills required
  • Experience in HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points)
  • Solid understanding of allergens, microbiological and mold issues
  • Experience and certification in the proper and safe use of cleaners in a food manufacturing facility – Minimum 5-7 years of experience
  • Must be able to build communication programs for safety practices
  • Ability to work independently with minimal coaching and direction
  • Ability to function as a team player in the local management culture

Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Plant SOPs and GMP’s
  • Advanced sanitation coursework and training from food accrediting agencies preferred
  • Must be able to read and write in both English and Spanish
