Sanitarians are responsible for safely sanitizing the Production Processing Facility, various types of production equipment and other areas as needed by following the proper procedures.

Personal protection equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn during the shift.

The work environment is 35°F, noisy and windy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for assuring that all processing and packaging equipment is cleaned and sanitized prior to the following production day. Ensure that all work activities of direct and indirect reports are performed with attention to the highest quality of food safety, safe processes and compliance with all Company, Customer and Legal Requirements.

  • Manages, evaluates, motivates and directs sanitation initiatives for Plant Sanitation supervision and crew
  • Ensure compliance with Corporate standards and systems to monitor food safety and facility cleanliness
  • Inspects, monitors and educates departments regarding food safety and cleanliness in the handling, production, and transportation of ingredients and finished products
  • Promotes safety through work procedures, orderly work environments and employee safety programs
  • Ensures compliance with Pest Control contractors
  • Trains employees in food safety and sanitation
  • Manage schedules and ensure that all Sanitation shifts have ample coverage to accomplish tasks
  • Lead by Example – will require majority of time spent within the Plant ensuring that processes and procedures are
  • Accomplished daily

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Strong continuous improvement mindset
  • Supervisory skills: demonstrate leadership by influencing others in implementing sanitation programs through effective communication, individual technical knowledge, and training
  • General knowledge of equipment used in food manufacturing facilities and depots for production, storage and transfer of products, and cleaning practices for that equipment
  • Strong planning and organizational skills required
  • Experience in HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points)
  • Solid understanding of allergens, microbiological and mold issues
  • Experience and certification in the proper and safe use of cleaners in a food manufacturing facility
  • Must be able to build communication programs for safety practices
  • Ability to work independently with minimal coaching and direction
  • Ability to function as a team player in the local management culture

Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Plant SOP’s and GMP’s
  • Advanced sanitation course work and training from food accrediting agencies preferred
  • Must be able to read and write in both English and Spanish

Qualified candidate will be responsible for maintaining shop equipment and various tasks involving electrical, plumbing, and machine repair. This position may involve lifting up to 50 lbs. on occasion.

Job Responsibilities includes:

  • Assist in performing preventative and urgent maintenance of production machinery and equipment;
  • Assist in performing routing maintenance of production machines and equipment;
  • Perform building maintenance as needed;
  • Regularly Clean and Lubricate machinery;
  • Regularly inspect plant equipment and moving parts;
  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts;
  • Maintain clean and organized work area;
  • Knowledge of welding, plumbing and pneumatic;
  • Knowledge of refrigeration equipment – maintenance and repair;
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and blueprints;
  • Working knowledge of three phase motors, programmable controls, circuits, computer interfaces and National Electrical Code;
  • Perform electrical trouble shooting up to 480 volts;
  • Minimum of 5 years of industrial experience in electrical or mechanical support functions.
  • Must be knowledgeable of OSHA Safety Requirements, especially those related to electrical and mechanical operations and components.

* High School Diploma/equivalent or completion of technical school or equivalent in training, experience and education.

* English/Spanish bilingual is a plus.
