Sanitation Supervisor – 3rd Shift

The Sanitation Supervisor works to direct the sanitation tasks to ensure compliance with industry and food safety standards. Supervise and coordinate activities for Team Members engaged in all aspects of sanitation activities.

  • Responsible for directing and developing employees to meet all sanitation, product safety & regulatory compliance
  • Ensures standards for sanitation for the facility, in conformity with FDA & GMP regulations and company standards, are met
  • Directs cleaning of equipment and work areas
  • Inspects facility and implements resolutions
  • Prepares operational schedules and coordinates activities to ensure production and quality of products meet specifications
  • Reviews and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays
  • Observes workflow to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization
  • Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers ensure compliance with standards
  • Complies, stores, and retrieves sanitation data
  • Meets with work teams for training and to discuss past results and current trends
  • Promotes and maintains a positive environment fostering employee engagement, team building, and continuous improvement

Skills, & Abilities

  • Experience cleaning in the food industry
  • Knowledge and experience performing basic maintenance & equipment tear-down
  • Knowledge of Lock Out- Tag Out safety codes
  • Able to work well without direct supervision
  • Able to operate all necessary equipment and perform all physical requirements of the job
  • Able to communicate effectively
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends as required

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Capable of influencing team members to work towards achieving organizational and individual goals
  • One to three years of experience in supervisory/leadership roles. Experience in food manufacturing or a related field is desired
  • Must have effective communication and leadership skills
  • Must be flexible with work hours and be able to work overtime and weekends when needed
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for assuring that all processing and packaging equipment is cleaned and sanitized prior to the following production day. Ensure that all work activities of direct and indirect reports are performed with attention to the highest quality of food safety, safe processes, and compliance with all Company, Customer, and Legal Requirements.

  • Manages, evaluates, motivates, and directs sanitation initiatives for Plant Sanitation supervision and crew
  • Ensure compliance with Corporate standards and systems to monitor food safety and facility cleanliness
  • Inspects, monitors, and educates departments regarding food safety and cleanliness in the handling, production, and transportation of ingredients and finished products
  • Promotes safety through work procedures, orderly work environments, and, employee safety programs
  • Ensures compliance with Pest Control contractors
  • Trains employees in food safety and sanitation
  • Manage schedules and ensure that all Sanitation shifts have ample coverage to accomplish tasks
  • Lead by Example – will require the majority of time spent within the Plant ensuring that processes and procedures are Accomplished daily

Requirements

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Strong continuous improvement mindset
  • Supervisory skills: demonstrate leadership by influencing others in implementing sanitation programs through effective communication, individual technical knowledge, and training
  • General knowledge of equipment used in food manufacturing facilities and depots for production, storage, and transfer of products, and cleaning practices for that equipment
  • Strong planning and organizational skills required
  • Experience in HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points)
  • Solid understanding of allergens, microbiological and mold issues
  • Experience and certification in the proper and safe use of cleaners in a food manufacturing facility – Minimum 5-7 years of experience
  • Must be able to build communication programs for safety practices
  • Ability to work independently with minimal coaching and direction
  • Ability to function as a team player in the local management culture

Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Plant SOPs and GMP’s

Summary:
Operate and maintain a multi-stage air/gas system used for freezing food products and room cooling This position reports to Maintenance Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned as necessary.)

  • Operate and maintain the Air/Gas or a large refrigeration system to meet production’s refrigeration requirements.
  • Perform all preventative maintenance to the system, including draining the oil pots, oil and filter changes, annual rebuilds of compressors and valves, motor changes, and condenser/evaporator as required.
  • Document all maintenance and inspection activity in accordance with our Mechanical Integrity Program.
  • Comply to and monitor operation for compliance with all 14 elements of the Process Safety Management Program.
  • Work in a safe manner consistent with all Company rules and good work practices as specified by JSB

Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
High School diploma or its equivalency, A.S. degree preferred. Minimum of three years experience operating large refrigeration systems including:
